Personal Life

Lauren Mandel born 31 December 1992 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. With a genuine flair for comedy and an engaging on-screen presence, Lauren Mandel is a captivating young talent. Having appeared in such diverse films as Geography Bee, Sweet Jesus and Piggy, Lauren turns in sincere performances every time.

Born in Chicago, Lauren began taking improv and acting classes at an early age through Lookingglass Studio part of Lookingglass Theater founded by David Schwimmer, Joey Slotnick and others. After her family moved to the north suburbs she continued classes at Byrne Piven's Piven Theatre Workshop in Evanston where Jeremy Piven, Joan Cusack and John Cusack trained.

She has devoted much of her career to work in the theater. After moving to New York she auditioned for the American Girl Theater and appeared as Katie in Circle of Friends written by Gretchen Cryer (mother of actor Jon Cryer from "Two and a Half Men" (2003)). She also appeared in the American Girl Holiday Celebration show. Among her favorite performances in Chicago were as Susan Walker in Miracle on 34th Street with Tony award winning play writer, Tracy Letts.

Lauren recently wrapped production on the comedy Geography Bee opposite Lauren Patten and directed by Ronnie Naples.  Lauren is currently enrolled in Deborah Gibson's Camp Electric Youth in Los Angeles where she is songwriting, singing and acting.
