Putri Ayu Silaen born at Sibolga, North Sumatra, Indonesia on May 24, 1997 is a soprano singer who previously dabbled in the genre pop. She starts her singing career in very young age by joining several singing competition in North Sumatra. She began to sing classical song when she joined Pesparawi competition, a classical singing competition, she won gold medal. After that she become more interesting in classical genre and joined Indonesia Mencari Bakat, an Indonesian talent show competition as a classical singer at age 12 and won the competition as runner up. At age 14 Putri Ayu chosen as one of the winners Born to Sing Asia – David Foster contest. She singing in David Foster and friends concert that held in Jakarta at 28 Oct 2011, She sang Time to Say Goodbye (David Foster feat. Putri Ayu - Time to Say Goodbye), and then invited again in David foster and friends concert in Marina Bay Singapore On 3 Nov 2012, in Singapore she sang The Prayer duet with Michael Bolton. She is a daughter of Berlin Silaen and Suzana Pangaribuan. She has 2 older sisters named Junita Nathasya Silaen and Revina R. Silaen. She also has a brother named Putra Mahamei Parasian Silaen. She is now attended school on her high school at Tarsisius 1, Jakarta. Before following the IMB, she attended vocal lessons in San Vocal Music School Cantabile, Medan, under the guidance of Derta Purba. And then she deepen her musical knowledge under the guidance of Bertha, Christopher Abimanyu, Catharina Leimena, Aning Katamsi, and Binu Sukaman.
In the beginning, Putri Ayu tends to have a mezzo soprano vocal type as the highest tone she usually used to sing is in the A5, but in songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, she was able to attain a Bb5, and now, the highest recorded tones ever achieved by Putri Ayu is C#6 (soprano). when she sang The Girl in 14G.(Putri Ayu - The Girl in 14G)
