Alicia Amanda Vikander born 3 October 1988 is a Swedish actress. She began her career in Swedish film and television. Since 2011 Vikander has appeared in European productions including the 2012 UK film Anna Karenina and the Academy Award-nominated Danish movie A Royal Affair. She is the recipient of the Guldbagge Award.
She was born in Gothenburg, the daughter of Maria Fahl Vikander, an actress, and Svante Vikander, a psychiatrist. She has five siblings. She trained in dance at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm for nine years before refocusing her career on acting. Before the change, she appeared in several musicals at the Gothenburg Opera.
